Free Class - Gardening 101: Welcome To Central Texas! View Calendar
Date: Tuesday, October 06, 2015 At 11:00:00 AM

Jeff Ferris - Staff horticulturist and diagnostician at The Natural Gardener, presents “Gardening 101: Welcome to Central Texas!”

If you are new to Texas, or new to Texas gardening, or are looking for some hints and tips to make your garden thrive, come enjoy a discussion on how to become a more successful gardener in the challenging Central Texas environment. Discuss the best location, preparing your soil, what to plant and when to plant it. Get ideas on how to manage weather, pests and diseases. Most importantly, learn how to overcome your “Martha Stewart” syndrome and accept a garden shouldn’t look like a museum. Jeff has been a gardener in Austin for 30 years. He is one of the staff horticulturist and diagnostician at The Natural Gardener and has recently joined John on the air as co-host of “Gardening Naturally” (airs Saturday and Sunday mornings on KLBJ 590AM). Jeff has been teaching in the ACC Landscape and Horticulture program since 2008. He and his wife Lori co-founded the first public community garden in Round Rock – Unity Park Community Garden.

This class will be held on TUESDAY morning, October 6th, at 11am and will be about 1 hour long. Classes are subject to change. Please call first to confirm. Classes are held outdoors under an open air canopy - The Revival Tent - please dress for the weather. Arrive early for best seating. You are welcome to bring your own chair. If possible, please park on Bell Drive, adjacent to the Tent.
