Frequently Asked QuestionsWhen can we schedule a guided tour?
Guided tours may be scheduled any time of the year that the Natural Gardener is open except for the spring season: late February through March, April, and early May. During spring, all of our staff is dedicated to customer service in the store and nursery, as it is our busiest season. From late May through the beginning of February, we schedule tours on weekdays only, except by special arrangement. For children’s tours, we request that tour groups contain no more than about 25 students. We can arrange for one group to do a scavenger hunt while they’re waiting for their tour, then switch. Just ask!
Can we go on a self-guided tour?
Groups are certainly invited to schedule a self-guided tour with us. Group leaders must schedule any self-guided tour with the tour coordinator at the Natural Gardener so that we have it on our calendar and we are aware that your group is coming. Also, self-guided tour leaders are expected to share the tour policy with their entire group, adults and children, and are expected to follow the guidelines. Larger self-guided tour groups of more than 35 members who want to tour during the spring (February through May) may need to make special arrangements with the tour coordinator.
Are the facilities/grounds stroller/wheelchair friendly?
The grounds are stroller and wheelchair friendly in most areas, and adequate in others. The pathways are mostly compressed granite gravel, which is firm but sometimes bumpy. There are a couple of places where there is a significant slope. The vegetable garden paths are pine needle mulch, not granite, and may be more difficult to maneuver in a wheelchair. Please ask us for more detailed information.
Where do we park?
We have 3 parking lots on the property. We would encourage visitors to carpool whenever possible. There is a possibility of more parking along Bell Drive, which runs along the west side of our property and has two gates entering our property. Based on availability, we may ask large numbers of cars to park off site, but nearby.
We must be notified if visitors are arriving in a bus. We have special instructions for these tour groups to avoid the challenge of maneuvering in our parking lot.
Do we need to pay in advance or do we pay upon arrival? What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, check, and Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. We prefer one single transaction (rather than multiple, individual payments). You can pay upon arrival, or in advance. Our cash registers can accept a maximum of 3 payment methods for a single transaction. For example, we can accept 3 different credit cards OR 1 credit card, 1 check, and the rest in cash, etc. – no more than 3 separate payments.
What is the cancellation policy?
Just give us a call in advance – there’s no problem with cancelling.
Will the tour happen rain or shine or will we reschedule in the event of rain?
We can reschedule if it’s raining or bad weather, based on availability.
