John's Answers to Common Questions:

Q: Should I fertilize my container gardens?

A: Vortex Potting Soil is blended to provide long-lasting fertility. Use John's Recipe liquid fertilizer as a foliar feed or soil drench as needed. See fertilizer label for more specific instructions.
Es recomendable el uso del fertilizante liquido "John's Recipe" en conjunto con Vortex Tierra Para Macetas.

Q: How much should I water my pots?

A: Always follow the recommended guidelines
for individual plants. Soak thoroughly (so water drains out of the bottom) but as infrequently as possible. Allowing the soil to dry slightly between
watering ensures proper aeration. Remember that soil in clay pots dries out more quickly than in plastic pots. Use saucers to catch excess water so
that the soil can re-absorb it. (Dump out remaining water after several hours.) This ensures even distribution of moisture throughout the soil.
Siempre siga las indicaciones recomendadas para cada planta. Poner agua, despacio, hasta ver la salir en el platillo. Deje la unas horas antes de
desaguar.

Q: When should I re-pot?

A: Rootbound plants have trouble holding enough moisture, and so should be repotted in the next size container. A size increase of 20-30% is recommended. Remember small plants in large
containers are hard to evenly water. When transplanting, gradually add soil around the plant, water, and gently tamp at intervals to remove air pockets. Es necesario cambiar la planta a una maceta mas grande (mas 20-30%) cuando
no hay espacio suficiente para mantener la humedad.

Q: Can I start seeds in Vortex Potting Soil?

A: Yes! Sifting the soil through a one-quarter inch screen will improve the soil for delicate seedlings.

THIS SOIL IS ALIVE! Exposure to heat and light may stimulate white or orange-colored growth in the soil while it is still in the bag. This growth
is a beneficial organism called actinomycetes. You can still use the potting soil. Simply scoop out the actinomycetes and add it to your compost
where it is very useful.
